Our Story
KaChance Kids was founded by Ms. Sarah Nakawesa, a compassionate and determined woman whose own life journey inspired a mission of hope.
At just 16 years old, Sarah was forced to drop out of school after the passing of her mother so she could care for her younger siblings. Though her own education ended prematurely, she made a remarkable sacrifice ensuring that her siblings continued with school. From this experience of loss and resilience grew a deep conviction: no child should be denied an education because of poverty or circumstance.
The name “KaChance” was born from this vision. In Luganda, “Ka” means “small” or “little”, and when combined with “Chance,” it represents the organization’s mission giving every child, no matter how small, a chance to dream, learn, and succeed.
Sarah began her community outreach and charity work in September 2016, focusing on helping vulnerable children and struggling families within her community. Her efforts grew steadily, reaching more children and inspiring others to join her cause.
In october 2023, her passion became a formal organization when KaChance Kids was officially registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO). Since then, Kachance has expanded its work through strong community partnerships notably with Exodus Josh Primary School in Bubbaale village, Wakiso District where the organization has supported children with scholastic materials, nutrition assistance, school renovation, and mentorship programs.
Today, KaChance Kids stands as a beacon of hope, empowering children through education, care, and community development. What began as one young woman’s personal sacrifice has grown into a movement that continues to change lives one child, one family, and one community at a time.
