Parent and Community Support Program
At Kachance Kids Uganda, we believe that a child’s education begins long before the classroom — it begins at home. Many of the challenges children face in school are rooted in their family environments. That’s why we launched the Parent and Community Support Program: to walk alongside parents and caregivers, especially young and single mothers, helping them build stronger, more supportive homes where children can truly thrive.
Why This Program Matters
In the communities we serve, many families face deep challenges — financial hardship, broken relationships, and limited access to support services. Too often, mothers are left to raise children alone while fathers struggle with issues such as alcoholism or absence. These realities can lead to emotional distress for children, inconsistent school attendance, and poor academic performance. To break this cycle, Kachance Kids Uganda created the Parent and Community Support Program part of our broader mission to fight poverty through education and family empowerment.
What We Do: Family Counseling and Guidance
We organize regular counseling sessions for parents and guardians focusing especially on young and single mothers. Through emotional support and guidance on positive parenting, we help families heal, rebuild communication, and strengthen bonds between parents and their children.
Supporting Mothers in Crisis
Many mothers carry heavy burdens: caring for children, providing food, and sometimes surviving abusive or difficult relationships. We offer psychosocial support, connect them with community health services, and provide essential materials such as food and clothing when possible. We also encourage the formation of women’s savings and support groups, where mothers can learn financial management skills, share experiences, and lift eac
Education and Home Visits
Our dedicated volunteers and social workers visit families to understand the unique challenges each child faces at home. These visits allow us to create personalized support plans, strengthening collaboration between teachers and parents to improve attendance, discipline, and academic performance.
Community Dialogues and Awareness Campaigns
We bring together parents, teachers, and local leaders to discuss critical issues from alcohol abuse and domestic violence to child neglect and the importance of education. These community dialogues foster openness, reduce stigma, and promote collective responsibility for children’s well being.
Our Impact So Far
25+ parents and guardians in Wakiso District have participated in counseling and awareness sessions. Young mothers report renewed confidence and stronger relationships with their children. Teachers have seen noticeable improvements in pupils’ attendance, concentration, and behavior. Fathers struggling with alcohol have joined community support groups, recommitting to their families. This holistic approach is transforming lives not only for children, but for entire families and communities. Together, we are nurturing a culture of love, responsibility, and hope.
